Our Good News!!

While I haven’t had any of the traditional pregnancy symptoms, I was supposed to get my period today (I didn’t). I decided not to get my hopes up, but to take the Clear Blue digital test I had leftover from last time.

I got home a few minutes before Geoff, so I quickly took the test, then left the stick in the bathroom, shut the door and paced around in the kitchen for the three minute waiting period. When the time was up, I went in to take a peek, and…

I couldn’t believe it. Geoff walked in the door a few minutes later and I basically pounced on him and told him our good news. He was disbelieving at first, but so, so happy and excited. He couldn’t stop smiling, which melted my heart a little. Now we get to tell our families, which is going to be so much fun!

How did you announce your pregnancy to your family?

Pregnancy Tests

One thing I learned from the last time I found out I was pregnant is that all pregnancy tests are not the same. I had heard that First Response was the best brand because it could give you results earlier than all the other tests, so that’s what I ended up buying. I bought a three-pack since I wasn’t sure, and went home to take the test right away.

The instructions are pretty straightforward – hold the stick a certain way and pee on it. Then wait three minutes for the results to appear. Or in my case, you peek at the stick every 10 seconds to see if anything has shown up. One pink line means you’re not preggo, two means you are. One pink line showed up almost immediately for me, but I didn’t see anything else. By the time three minutes was up, I was fairly certain I was not pregnant. Here’s what the stick looked like after about 15 minutes:

I had no idea what the heck to do at that point since I really couldn’t decide if there was a line there or not. I decided to wait a little while and then take another test (good thing I had bought a three-pack!). After about three hours I couldn’t wait anymore so I took another test. This time it looked like this:

First Response Test 2

I mean, seriously? You can see why I was unsure – the line is so faint, but it is definitely there. I decided to pick up another brand of pregnancy test the following day. This time I wanted something that would give me a solid yes or no answer, so I picked up a two-pack of Clear Blue digital tests. It literally says “pregnant” or “not pregnant.” No deciphering stupid pink lines. When I got home from work the next day, I took one of the new tests. Here is what this one looked like:

Thank you, Clear Blue, for being so CLEAR with your results! Now, if you’ve read my last post, you know that this pregnancy only lasted a few days. It was one of the hardest things I’ve had to go through in my life, but it was definitely a learning experience.

Bottom line: you can’t be a little pregnant. If you get a faint pink line, then congratulations, you’ve got a little one on the way!
